Taking Care of You

WHAT IS ATHLETIC THERAPY?

An athletic therapist’s role is to provide expertise on injury prevention, emergency, acute care, assessment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries during sporting events or in a clinic environment. Musculoskeletal injuries involve bones, joints, and muscles of the body.  Athletic Therapists use a thorough knowledge of the human musculoskeletal system, exercise physiology, biomechanics and basic emergency care to excel in the assessment and treatment of an injured individual.
I am proud to be a member of this association because we take pride in rehabbing and preventing injuries to Canadians no matter the level of their physical activity. The association’s goal is to promote and grow the profession of athletic therapy through education and research. The therapists in the association provide care in a professional manner, using proven techniques and successfully treat and help prevent injuries.
